A massive total of 82 admitted patients were without beds in University Hospital Limerick on the morning of Wednesday, October 2, 2019 – the highest figure ever recorded in any Irish hospital by the INMO trolley/ ward watch. On this day, the INMO recorded 47 patients with- out beds in UHL’s emergency department, with 35 in wards elsewhere in the hospital. Patients without beds are typ- ically on chairs and trolleys, often on corridors.
