If you have ideas about education and professional development activities, we would be delighted to hear from you. Centenary celebrations and Nurse and Midwife Awards 2019 The INMO Nurse and Midwife Awards will be presented on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at the Richmond Education and Event Centre, Dublin. The awards will be part of the INMO centenary celebrations, which will run throughout the day. The event will include a variety of discussions, events and activities celebrating nursing and midwifery and 100 years of the INMO. Nursing Now Ireland The Irish Association of Directors of Nursing and Midwifery, along with the Psychiatric Nursing Association, have formed the Nursing Now Ireland national steering committee. Remember to check out the Nursing Now Ireland website for information about the campaign. All nurses and midwives are invited to participate and join the campaign. You will also find Nursing Now Ireland social media pages on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. Please share information, photos and videos from your events. Menopause at work The ‘Menopause at Work’ position statement and guide has been launched. The INMO believes that the profile of menopause in the workplace needs to be acknowledged, recognised as an important occupational issue and for resources to be invested in supporting women. The position statement is published in this issue of WIN , and the full position statement and guide is available on the INMO website – www.inmo.ie The INMO held a public event on Monday, October 14, 2019 titled ‘Menopause #NoTaboo’. The event was organised in collaboration with the Menopause Hub. Nearly 100 people attended the event to listen to keynote speakers including Debby Holloway, consultant gynaecology nurse, London; Barbara Taylor MD; Una Donnelly, menopause health coach; and Nigel Denby, dietitian. The event also included a performance by Mary Coughlan. Sections, conferences and seminars The All Ireland Midwifery Conference was held in Armagh in October. Over 120 midwives attended the event, which is held annually by the INMO and RCM in Northern Ireland. Sessions included presentations on

‘how to retain world-class midwives, a framework for managing adverse events’ and ‘leading lights in midwifery and maternity services’. It was an excellent event and a great opportunity for networking. The conference will be back in the Republic of Ireland in 2020 – the International Year of the Midwife. November is also a busy month for conferences. The INMO National Occupational Health Nurses Section conference will take place on the November 21 and the INMO Operating Department Nurses Section conference on November 30, both at the Richmond.
